The Arts

Creative expression and the arts continue to play a major role in St Dominic’s school life as the girls progress through their education. Whether they’re leading the school community in Mass, sharing their art or performing on-stage, our Senior School students have plenty of opportunities to develop their own appreciation for the arts.

Music

All Senior School students can choose to take private instrumental or voice lessons – along with the music curriculum that is taught in class. Specialised music teachers attend the college to help students make real progress with their chosen instrument or vocal training.

We offer a wide range of opportunities for collective musical experiences including musical enrichment:

  • College Choir
  • Concert Orchestra
  • String Orchestra
  • Rock Band
  • Senior Vocal Ensemble
  • School Musical Orchestra
  • Liturgical Music Ensemble
  • Liturgical Singing (fortnightly, as part of the Pastoral Care Program).

Drama & Art

Each year St Dominic’s hosts a school production, alternating between a musical and a stage production without music. Roles both onstage and off are offered to students from Years 7-11 and include:

  • Onstage cast
  • Backstage crew
  • Orchestra
  • Props/Art/Set Design
  • Front of House
  • Make-Up
  • Sound and Lighting

Other Opportunities

Art Club is an ongoing group that gives girls the chance to create and grow their artistic skills. Performing Arts are also showcased each term at Assemblies – and choirs and soloists alike sing during our Liturgies and Masses.
