Week 11 Bulletin

By now, students across Years 7 12 have taken home their Term One Report.  Overwhelmingly, the results represent an affirmation of the interest and the effort our students give to their studies.  They are to be heartily congratulated.  In with the report is information for parents about booking times in the early Term 2 Parent Teacher Interviews.

• NAPLAN Success:  At St. Dominic's substantial improvements were shown in numeracy by the cohort of students moving from both Years 3 5 and Years 7 9.
• District Cross Country: Thursday April 3 saw 35 students attend the North Adelaide District Cross Country trials.  We congratulate them on their successes and, particularly, wish our "top six" place getters well as they move on to represent North Adelaide in the State Championships next term.
• Easter Liturgy: Students from Years 8-12 gathered yesterday to celebrate the forgiveness of God for us in a Reconcilliation Liturgy.  Thank you to Fr Tony Densley for leading this ritual and for offering the opportunity for private confession to all secondary year levels together with Fr Ben Hensley and Fr James Valledares.

• Thursday 11 April:  Bread Roll Day in the primary school.
• Thursday 11 April: Term 1 Sports & Special Photos
• Friday 12 April: Final day of Term 1.  Classes will be dismissed at the NORMAL TIME.
• Tuesday 30 April: First day of Term 2.  Winter Uniform is worn.  This is also the final date for Year 7-12 Parents to book their Parent-Teacher Interviews.
• Wednesday 1 May + Monday 6 May: Year 7-12 Parent Teacher Interviews.  Information about the booking process has been sent home with student reports.
• Monday 6 May: Auskick's 8-week football coaching clinic begins at St Dominic's, for students in Rec - Year 6.  Book online here.
• Thursday 9 May: Thundercup Netball season begins

Excitement is mounting as the competitive side of the Project Compassion appeal draws to a close. Students and staff have together devised a number of new and old ways of raising funds for a good cause everything from the traditional bake sale to the staff student netball matches.  Caritas Australia each year builds a wonderful program on its website
to connect the generosity of the giver to those who will receive their help.

In today's Bulletin, we commemorate the Opening and Blessing of the Sr Jillian Havey Centre with a feature colour spread.  Also inside:

• We extend our heartfelt sympathy to our Muslim sisters and brothers in the recent horrific tragedy in Christchurch.  We offer our support in prayer and in the assurance of our deep appreciation of the contribution of the Muslim people to our social fabric in Australia, as in New Zealand.

• The final Sports Day Program is out now, featuring a map of the venue.  Final appeals and information pertaining to the day, from both the College and Parents & Friends, is also enclosed in today's edition.

• The Year 6 French and Italian classes combined to celebrate Mardi Gras / Carnevale.

• We joined with schools around the nation to mark the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence.

• There is an important reminder regarding the charging of student laptops.

• The Primary classes reflect on the Rec - Year 6 Field Day, held last Tuesday.

• We congratulate our Year 3-6 SACPSSA Swimmers for their outstanding results at Monday's Carnival.
