Middle Years - Years 7 to 10
Middle school is a significant time of change for students and a critical time for learning. To support this, a smooth and structured transition in middle school is delivered to promote student success and fulfilment. Group dynamics, peer interaction and personal growth are key focus areas to ensure an environment is created that is conducive to learning and one of which students feel a sense of community and belonging.
The Year 7 to 10 curriculum is informed by, and responds to, current and future needs. Within the Australian Curriculum framework, a diverse range of learning areas are studied by students, underpinned by ACARA's General Capabilities and Cross-Curricular Priorities. The curriculum prepares students for civic, social and economic participation and personal health and wellbeing, whilst providing increased opportunities for students to make choices that suit their interests, abilities and future aspirations.
St Dominic's Priory College recognises that the needs of our students are diverse. Our programs are flexible and individualised to allow for acceleration, enrichment and support as required. Staff provide highly personalised learning experiences to ensure all students reach their personal best.
All students in Years 5 to 12 are provided with a laptop which provides a gateway to engaging resources and increased competence in using digital technology responsibly.
