Welcome Back to Term 2

What a delight it was this week, as the girls returned to school to enjoy face to face learning!  Teachers and staff were visibly pleased to see the students back on campus for a joyous Week 2 of Term.

Inside today's Bulletin:

A Note About the Bulletin

The St Dominic's Priory College Bulletin will now be issued on Thursdays of even weeks of term (once per fortnight).  We invite families to confirm how they wish to receive this publication, via a reply slip on the back page.  Please endeavour to return your slip by Wednesday 13 May.

A Term Like No Other...

Week 10 Bulletin

Term One 2020 is quickly coming to a close.  It has been a term like no other.  Our school community has responded with a strong sense of collaboration, understanding and support.  On Thursday 2 April, the Reception to Year 11 girls will pack their bags and say goodbye to us for at least three weeks.  They will logon Friday morning and be met by their Pastoral Care teachers, and together they will navigate what Remote Learning 4 St Dom's Girls looks like in reality.  

News this Week:

  • We congratulate the winners of our Sports Day Raffle.
  • A special feature honouring our latest Oz Kids in Print poets.  Well done, girls!
  • Some re-assuring words for our Year 12s.

The Week 9 Bulletin:

  • Per the latest government directive, the College is currently OPEN AS USUAL.  For all College Communications pertaining to the COVID-19 situation, please visit COVID-19 Updates on the College website.  
  • Students gathered - at a distance - to create Social Justice Street Art, in support of Project Compassion.
  • The College celebrates Harmony Day and St Patrick's Day.
  • Year 6 have been creating animations in their Technology class.
  • Earlier in 'Mad March', Year 11 & 12 Drama were inspired by performances at both the Adelaide Fringe and Adelaide Festival

Upcoming Dates

  • The Sports Day Raffle will be drawn on Wednesday 1 April.  This will mean we honour our commitment to those who have purchased tickets, with their chance to win some money.  We encourage families to return their sold raffle books.
  • For the remainder of term, or until advised otherwise, lunch from the Tuckshop will only be available by PRE-ORDER ONLY.  Sales during recess and lunch will be limited to SNACKS and DRINKS only.

Week 8 Bulletin

Our world is impacted by COVID-19, and as we respond we must surely show respect for each other; for the work of our leaders, our medical professionals, and all those in work that provides service.  Respect in the supermarket, on the bus, at work and wherever we move.  Let us think about how we can look after ourselves, and each other.  In the Bulletin this week:

  • The Year 3 Class hosted the first ever 'virtual' Assembly

  • The Reception Class investigated their names, asking their parents how their names were chosen, and where it came from

  • Year 3, 4 and 5 reflect on their Swimming Lessons

  • Primary classes were a sea of colour and noise in their music workshops with Jon Madin

  • Year 7 tour the College Chapel with a very special guide: Sr Jill!

  • Year 10 Geography went on a coastal walk between Henley Beach and Glenelg, to study the environmental impact of coastal development

  • We see pictures from the 2020 Student Leaders Gathering: Leaders for the World God Desires, held earlier this month 

  • Uniform Shop opening hours for the April School holidays are announced.  Winter Uniform is worn in Term 2

Week 7 Bulletin

On Friday 6 March St Dominic's Priory College celebrated International Women's Day.  The Year 12 College Prefects and SRC attended the official breakfast at the Adelaide Convention Centre, whilst a smaller group attended the official luncheon.  On campus, the Library hosted the Year 10 cohort for the inaugural International Women's Day Breakfast celebration where students heard from Ms Aurora Reid, who spoke to the Year 10s about the value of education and the opportunities St Dominic's Priory College provides.  Read a transcript here.

In this week's news

  • The Year 3, 4 and 5 classes are enjoying their Swimming Lessons, and we congratulate our Year 4 - Year 7 athletes for their efforts at the North Adelaide District Swimming Carnival.

  • The Primary School enjoyed their Field Day and all are now looking forward to Sports Day.

  • Year 9 French reflect on their Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) celebrations on Shrove Tuesday.

  • As a community, St Dominic's Priory College is preparing for all possibilities whilst remaining calm, measured and informed by our response to the COVID-19 outbreak.  Updated communications were sent home to families on Wednesday and can be read here.

  • The Parents & Friends extend their request for more parent helpers at Sports Day. If every family would please consider giving just an hour
    of their time, the day will be an enjoyable, well-run community event for all.  Please take a moment to sign up online now.  It is hoped that the event schedule, as emailed to families on Friday 13 March, will assist in parents choosing a roster around their daughter/s event(s).
