Spring News
For each one of us the Fete has something special to offer and Sunday's event had plenty to keep our crowds entertained, and fed, with a wide range of goods to buy, books to read, and gifts to bid for at the Auction.  We give thanks to God our loving Creator for good weather and the blessings of a great community day.

Today is the Feast of All Saints.  It is not hard to see the qualities of selflessness which are the hallmark of these heavenly holy ones in the many parents, staff and students of our school who have contributed their time and financial support for the good of all.  Our holy one Sr. M. Anne Holland was very much missed from the Fete.

In this week's Bulletin:

  • There's a colourful spread of photos from Sunday's Fete & Auction

  • October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and for the first time, under guidance of the SRC, St Dominic's held a Pink Day; raising $911 in a matter of hours.

  • Six members of the St Dominic's community have poems published in the Spring Poetry Festival Anthology, and at Saturday's launch, two of these students were presented with special awards.  See inside today's Bulletin for more.

  • In Primary, our Year 5s are back from their Zoo Snooze, and the Year 6/7s are home from Camp.

  • Results from the Australian National Chemistry Quiz, held in August this year, are published.  Well done to those Year 11s that participated.

  • Eleven students from across Year 11 attended a 'University Experience Day' at the University of South Australia on Thursday 26 October.  They participated in hands-on activities across a range of discipline areas, including: Business and Law; Education; Art and Architecture; Engineering; Social Work and Psychology; and Health Science.  Read more about it in today's Bulletin.

Can you Help?

The Year 1 Class is after a childrens' Santa Suit Costume [about size 7] for an upcoming play.  If you have one the class can borrow, please get in touch with the Primary Office.

Upcoming Dates

  • The Year 5 Class will be presenting to their parents the long awaited 'Night of the Notables'; with this year's focus being a notable Astronomer or Astronaut.  We're sure the girls' speeches will be out of this world.

  • Year 12 Visual Arts Exhibition will take place in the Pottery Room from 5:30pm - 7pm this Friday, 3rd November.

  • Reception to Year 6 will spend a morning in their 2018 classes on Move Up Day Friday 10th November.

Are YOU Ready for FETE?!?

We are almost ready to welcome everyone to our place on this Sunday 29th October as we present our FETE and Auction 2017.  This year's Fete, as always, supports our ongoing development of student facilities.  In 2017 it is supporting the $3.5 million dollar commitment to the new Year 12 Centre to be built as part of the College master plan for 2019.

Thank you to so many of you who have and are still doing your part at home and here at school to make it a day to remember.

Please use the following check list to support your generous efforts!

  • The Cake Stall CAKES would be gratefully received in the Hall on Fete day or left at school on Friday.  Please note our request on this front page for baked goods from yourself or a member of your extended family.  THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

  • Afternoon Tea Stall: If you are a parent in Years 11 or 12 then cake/scones etc. are still "the go," but your product goes to the success of the Afternoon Tea Stall.  Your kind donations can be left in the 9B classroom.

  • FETE Raffle: The success of the FETE Raffle with its excellent cash prizes is key to the overall financial result.  Please return all books by Friday.

  • Live Auction: This year's Live Auction will again be complimented by a bumper Silent Auction.  Doors open at 11am.  Be sure to follow our Facebook event page for all the latest Auction news.  Hard copies of the Live Auction Catalogue will be sent home with your eldest daughter today.

  • Entertainment: Please note that this year's Fete has a wonderful line up of Bands, Dance, and Strings at several locations during the day. (See back page)

Good Wishes to our Year 12s as they complete their formal classes on Friday in preparation for exams and the finalisation of assessment tasks.  We will pray with them and for them at their final Year level Mass on Friday morning.
