The Week 8 Bulletin is not to be missed!

In today's Bulletin, we commemorate the Opening and Blessing of the Sr Jillian Havey Centre with a feature colour spread.  Also inside:

  • We extend our heartfelt sympathy to our Muslim sisters and brothers in the recent horrific tragedy in Christchurch.  We offer our support in prayer and in the assurance of our deep appreciation of the contribution of the Muslim people to our social fabric in Australia, as in New Zealand.

  • The final Sports Day Program is out now, featuring a map of the venue.  Final appeals and information pertaining to the day, from both the College and Parents & Friends, is also enclosed in today's edition.

  • The Year 6 French and Italian classes combined to celebrate Mardi Gras / Carnevale.

  • We joined with schools around the nation to mark the National Day of Action Against Bullying and Violence.

  • There is an important reminder regarding the charging of student laptops.

  • The Primary classes reflect on the Rec - Year 6 Field Day, held last Tuesday.

  • We congratulate our Year 3-6 SACPSSA Swimmers for their outstanding results at Monday's Carnival.

Parents & Friends Roster

In your very busy lives we need parents to give St Dom's top priority this week as we seek the help of our community to make our Annual family Sports Day a great success.  If you have not already done so, we invite parents to sign up online now or via the flyer in this week's Bulletin.

Also This Week:

  • The eagerly anticipated visit by the Zoomobile delighted the Year 1 class
  • Students across the primary school have been enjoying their new IT facilities; from new computers in the Junior Computing Room, to a new class set of Laptops, to the beginning of a rollout of Smart TVs in classrooms
  • R-6 Field Day was held on Tuesday 12 March - more on this next week
  • Year 7 Geography report on their liveability field study of North Adelaide
  • Year 11 Social Justice students recount their involvement in Just Leadership Day, held earlier this month
  • SACSSGSA Swimming Carnival results are in - congratulations to all swimmers on a commendable effort!
  • The 2019 Sports Day Program is published

Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent and, with it, the start of Project Compassion appeal.  While students across all year levels receive the ashes in a series of liturgies throughout the day, the Bulletin features the first of the Project Compassion Lenten Stories.

  • A further appeal inviting more parents to sign up to a roster for Sports Day.  You can do so here.
  • A reminder to Year 6-10 parents about the MYP Parent Information Evening on Wednesday 13 March.
  • We congratulate our Year 4-7 Swimmers on their outstanding results at the SAPSASA District Swimming Carnival last Thursday.

Inside the Week 5 Bulletin

  • We congratulate our 2019 Student Leaders and feature photos and a gospel reflection from Tuesday's Investiture Mass.
  • There are photos galore from the Year 7-12 Field Day, held on Thursday in Week 4.

Upcoming

As we approach the mid-way point in the Term, we find ourselves readying for several more events:

  • Old Scholars' Mass: We look forward to welcoming our wider community of Old Scholars to the Chapel this Sunday (or in the Hall if it's too hot) and hope you will stay on for the Old Scholars' Association AGM and tour of the new Year 12 facilities.
  • Parents & Friends Sports Day Roster: Sign up to a 1-hour timeslot online now at http://signup.com/go/YujvNEw
    • The Parents & Friends would also welcome any donations of prizes for the Sports Day Raffle. 
  • Debating at St Dom's in 2019: There is a meeting at lunchtime, Thursday 28 February, for students interested in debating this year.  More details inside the Bulletin, and in the Student Daily Messages (at school).
  • Rec - Yr 6 Field Day: Please be advised that the date for the Primary Field Day has been changed to Tuesday 12 March, weather permitting.
  • MYP Parent Information Evening: Parents with a daughter starting Year 6 this year, or who are new to St Dominic's with a daughter in Years 7-10, are welcome to attend an information evening about the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme on the evening of Wednesday 13 March.  A letter has been sent home to 6-10 students who are new to the MYP in 2019.

Saturday Morning Sport - Hot Weather Policy

In accordance with the SACSSGSA Hot Weather Policy, Saturday's round of Saturday Morning Sport will be confirmed after 8am Friday.  Students are asked to pay attention to Daily Messages and PA announcements throughout the day for updates.

Week 4

In school terminology we are in Week 4 and we have had to abandon the idea of being just at the beginning of the year with the truth that next week we are almost half way through Term 1.
