St Dominic's Priory College in North Adelaide was established in 1884 by the English Dominican Sisters, led by Mother Rose Columba Adams. In its 136-year history, the College has become known for its excellence in education of girls in the Catholic Dominican faith tradition. Nationally, we are affiliated with Dominican Education Australia, and internationally we share the charism of Dominican Schools, Colleges and Universities around the world. This Dominican tradition is based on a love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a respect and enthusiasm for learning in all its branches. Veritas -Truth is the motto which unites us.
Since 1971 the College has been led by Sr Jillian Havey OP, AM. Her long-standing position as Principal is one that has shaped the College into the place it is today a school of distinction, celebrating academic excellence, diversity of culture and educating girls to be leaders of the future. Following Sr Jillian's retirement, Ms Helen Steele has been appointed as the first lay principal of the College. She begins her journey at St Dominic's in 2020, bringing with her an enthusiasm for girls' education, student leadership and faith formation.
